SURGE  METRIC  CENTURY  &  HALF  CENTURY  BIKE  RIDE  SUMMARY

SURGE is GTD's one day biking challenge. Our challenge this time is a 100 kilometer (62 miles) metric century bike ride or a 50 kilometer (31 miles) metric half century bike ride.       The 100 mile century ride has long been the cyclist version of running a marathon. It stands out as a milestone of accomplishment and a challenge worthy of respect. Since the metric century ride is 38 miles shorter than a standard century ride it is a little more attainable and a great goal for bikers of all skill levels. It takes good training & strong physical ability in order to finish this one day trek. SURGE will challenge you to push longer, to press further, and to pedal harder as you strive towards a finish line that is as far from the starting line as is the top of the state of Connecticut is from the bottom.       Beyond the physical achievement, SURGE is a spiritual quest as well. As you train, condition, and ultimately attempt to attain the century goal you will experience an amazement & wonderment at how incredible God is to have created the human body in all its complexity. You will be blown away by what the human body is capable of accomplishing if you are willing to just try. Whether we realize it or not our bodies are as dependent upon God for sustainment as they are upon breath itself. SURGE will help you embrace that truth as we pray together, pedal together, laugh together, and study a little of God's word together. You will be impacted by SURGE in ways you never expected.
